Portraits
Recently Jorien has developed her explorations of Identity in portraits. Selecting images that resonate with what is seen and understood of the subject in relationship to their environment, be it public or private. Jorien uses digital collage to portray an interpretation and perception of the identity of the subject.
Being an international nomad has taught me that Identity can be very elusive. It always seems to be connected to your environment in one way or another. How does one relate to one's environment and how does it relate to you? What different roles do we have in our daily lives - parent, sibling, child, family, professional, friend... and in each of those roles, depending on whom we interact with, we show a different part of ourselves. Being around certain people may also even develop certain parts of our personality. How do you see yourself and how do others perceive you? How would you like to be perceived?
